Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Bonki. Plain English, because terms nobody reads protect nobody.
Effective 4 October 2026. Applies to Bonki and getbonki.com.
Who these terms are between
Bonki is a Discord bot and web dashboard operated by an individual based in Australia, reachable through the Bonki support server. These terms are between that operator and you.
“You” means whoever is using Bonki, adding it to a server, configuring it from the dashboard, or using its commands as a member of a server where someone else added it.
By adding Bonki to a server, signing in to the dashboard, or using any of its commands, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, remove Bonki and stop using it.
What Bonki does
Bonki runs moderation, levelling, welcomes, events, giveaways, polls, suggestions, tickets, reminders, custom commands, server stats, role menus, logging and dynamic voice channels, all configured from a web dashboard. Each module is off until someone turns it on.
It is provided free of charge. Paid features are planned at 10 AUD per month per server but are not available yet, and nothing in Bonki currently charges anyone anything. These terms will be updated before any payment is ever taken, and no existing free feature will be moved behind the paywall without notice.
Who may use it
You must meet Discord’s own minimum age for your country - at least 13, and higher in some places, and you must be complying with the Discord Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. If Discord terminates your account, your permission to use Bonki ends with it.
To configure a server you need the Manage Server permission in it. Bonki checks this on every dashboard request rather than trusting an old session.
If you run a server
You decide which modules run and what they do. That makes you responsible for the consequences in your own community, including:
- Telling your members. If you enable levelling, logging or tickets, Bonki records things about the people in your server. They should know. Where data protection law applies to you, you are the controller of that data and Bonki is processing it on your instructions.
- Message logging especially. It is off by default. Switching it on means Bonki keeps the text of messages sent in your server for a few days so your moderators can see what was deleted or edited. That is a reasonable thing to want and a significant thing to do without saying so. Tell your members before you enable it, and keep it off in channels where people would not expect it, the ignore lists are there for that. In most places the law puts that duty on you, not on us.
- Who you give access to. Anyone with Manage Server can read your configuration, your moderation history and your ticket transcripts through the dashboard.
- What you write. Custom commands, tags, welcome messages, ticket panels and suggestion channels carry whatever text you put in them.
What you must not do
Do not use Bonki to:
- harass, threaten, dox or abuse anyone, or build a moderation workflow designed to do that;
- break the law, or help anyone else break it, in Australia or wherever you are;
- send unsolicited bulk messages, or use the reminder and announcement features as a spam relay;
- attack the service, deliberately overloading it, probing it for vulnerabilities without permission, or trying to reach data belonging to servers you are not an administrator of;
- resell Bonki, present it as your own, or run an automated client against the dashboard to scrape it.
If you think you have found a security flaw, report it in the support server rather than testing it against other people’s servers. Reports made in good faith are welcome.
Availability, and what happens when it breaks
Bonki runs on self-managed hardware. There is no uptime guarantee and no service level agreement. It will go down for maintenance, for upgrades, and occasionally because something broke. Outages are posted in the support server.
Modules can change or be withdrawn. Where a change would lose your configuration, reasonable notice will be given in the support server first.
Keep your own records of anything you cannot lose. Moderation history and ticket transcripts live in one database on one machine. It is backed up, but it is not a system of record and you should not treat it as one.
Your rights under Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
If a consumer guarantee under the Australian Consumer Law applies and cannot be excluded, the operator’s liability for failing to comply with it is limited, at the operator’s option, to supplying the services again or paying the cost of having them supplied again.
Everything in the next section is subject to this one. Where the two conflict, this one wins.
Liability
Subject to the section above, Bonki is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, and the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost data, or loss arising from:
- the service being unavailable;
- an action taken by a module you configured, a ban, a timeout, a deleted message, a role granted or removed;
- anything Discord does, including rate limits, API changes and account action against you;
- anything a member of your server does with a feature you enabled.
Because Bonki is supplied free of charge, the operator’s total liability to you for all claims is limited to 100 AUD, except where the Australian Consumer Law provides otherwise.
Ending it
You can stop at any time by removing Bonki from your server. That stops all further collection immediately. To have what was already stored deleted, see the Privacy Policy.
Access may be suspended or withdrawn, with notice where it is practical and without it where the service or other users are at immediate risk, if these terms are being broken.
Changes
These terms will change as Bonki grows. Material changes - anything affecting your rights, your data or your money, will be announced in the support server before they take effect, and the date at the top of this page will change. Continuing to use Bonki afterwards means you accept them.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and the courts of Australia have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer somewhere else, this does not take away the protection of any mandatory law of the place you live.
If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still stands.
