Setting one up

Make a voice channel, deny Connect for @everyone so nobody joins it, then point a counter at it. Pick what to count and write the name with {count} in it, like Members: {count}.

Why it is not instant

Discord limits channel renames to roughly twice per ten minutes, per channel. Going over does not fail, the change is queued for minutes and then applied with an out-of-date number, which looks far more broken than being a little behind.

So Bonki updates each counter at most every six minutes, and skips the rename entirely when the number has not moved. A counter can be a few minutes out of date. That is deliberate.

The online counter

An accurate “online now” count needs Discord’s privileged presence access, which Bonki does not ask for. The counter still works but undercounts. If an exact figure matters, member and booster counts are exact.
